About Aftercare
Doorstep Vet is able to offer dignified and high-quality cremation services through our crematorium partner, Fond Memories. There are several options depending on your specific desires. Regardless of what type of cremation you elect, Doorstep Vet will transport your pet’s remains from your home following your visit. You are, of course, welcome to keep your pet’s remains and manage your own aftercare if that is your wish.
Communal cremation is available through Doorstep Vet and Fond Memories. If you select this option, your pet will be cremated with other pets and the ashes will be scattered. You will not get your pet’s ashes back.
Private cremation is also available. We and our partner take great pains to ensure that your pet is always kept separate from other pets and the ashes you get back are those of your pet and no other. The ashes will be placed in a wooden urn with a brass nameplate with your pet’s name engraved on it. You may pick up your pet’s ashes at Fond Memories, located in northeast Austin (map) or you may elect to have your pet’s ashes shipped back to your home. This process can take up to three weeks.
